Recently, according to the Kaiyang County People's Government website, Guizhou Anda New Energy Materials Co., Ltd. has officially announced the environmental impact assessment (EIA) for its 450,000 mt/year iron phosphate precursor project for lithium iron phosphate (LFP).
The information indicates that the 450,000 mt/year iron phosphate precursor project for LFP is located in Bai'anying Village, Xicheng Street, Kaiyang County, Guiyang City, with a total investment of 4 billion yuan and will be constructed in phases. Among them, Zone A has a capacity of 300,000 mt of iron phosphate precursor for LFP, with 12 production lines and an investment of 1.4 billion yuan (this EIA); Zone B has a capacity of 150,000 mt of iron phosphate precursor for LFP, with 5 production lines and an investment of 1 billion yuan (another EIA will be conducted).
The project construction unit is Guizhou Anda New Energy Materials Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Anda Technology (830809).
Public information shows that Anda Technology is a new energy materials R&D and manufacturer focusing on cathode materials and their precursors for LFP batteries. It is a national-level high-tech enterprise integrating basic research, product development, production, and sales.
According to Anda Technology's annual report, as of the end of 2024, Anda Technology had a production capacity of 150,000 mt/year of iron phosphate and 150,000 mt/year of LFP. Ongoing projects include a 240,000 mt/year LFP project, a 15,000 mt/year battery pole piece disassembly recycling project, and a 300,000 mt/year iron phosphate precursor project for LFP. Upon completion of these projects, the company will have a production scale of 390,000 mt/year of LFP, 450,000 mt/year of precursors, and 15,000 mt/year of battery pole piece disassembly recycling. The increase in capacity and product diversification will effectively enhance the company's market competitiveness in the LFP materials sector.
At the performance briefing in May, Anda Technology introduced that BYD (002594) holds 11,857,700 shares of the company, accounting for 1.97% of the company's total share capital, and is one of the company's top ten shareholders. Since the company's transformation from traditional phosphorus chemical industry to lithium battery materials industry in 2011, BYD has been an important customer of the company. Since 2023, due to severe overcapacity in the LFP industry, competition has become extremely fierce, and the industry has generally suffered significant losses. The company has always adhered to the concept that technological innovation is the core driving force for enterprise development, continuously developing new products, and improving production efficiency through strategies such as quality improvement and cost reduction. As the overcapacity situation gradually eases, the company's capacity utilization rate has significantly increased, and the gross profit margin has also gradually improved.
Anda Technology stated that since April, the company's production lines have been basically operating at full capacity, with orders basically saturated. In Q2, the company's monthly production and sales plans range from 8,000 to 12,000 mt/month.
