Shanghai (Gasgoo)- GAC Group ("GAC") recently inaugurated its new dealership showroom in Benghazi, Libya's second-largest city, marking a significant step forward in its North African market expansion, according to a press release GAC INTERNATIONAL issued via its WeChat account on June 24.

As a highlight of the opening ceremony, GAC announced two major strategic partnerships. First, the company signed a cooperation agreement with Al Ahly Ly SC, one of Libya's top football clubs. The deal encompasses joint brand building and sports marketing initiatives. The club's president and first-team players attended the event, where the GAC M8 vehicle was also officially delivered. The MPV will serve as the designated VIP reception vehicle for the club, symbolizing the launch of the partnership.

Second, GAC renewed its agreement with global car rental platform SIXT to further expand its footprint in Libya's premium mobility segment. Several GAC M8 vehicles equipped with advanced smart technologies will join SIXT's local fleet, offering high-quality transportation solutions for both personal and business users.

The showroom launch is part of GAC's broader "One GAC 2.0" global strategy, which includes a sustained push into Africa. The Benghazi facility represents a critical milestone in GAC's efforts to localize operations and build a long-term, scalable ecosystem on the continent. By combining sports marketing, local service networks, and channel partnerships, GAC is establishing a more adaptive and deeply rooted operating model in Africa, aiming to bring the brand closer to local users.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
