SMM News on June 25: According to the official news from the Jinguan Copper Industry Branch of Tongling Nonferrous Metals Group Co., Ltd., 32 mt of crude selenium under its banner were finally successfully traded today, with a transaction price of around 115 yuan/kg. Market participants indicated that compared to the recent tenders for crude selenium from other manufacturers, which were traded at around 105-108 yuan/kg, the transaction price of crude selenium from the Jinguan Copper Industry Branch of Tongling Nonferrous Metals Group Co., Ltd. this week has significantly increased. This indicates a notable recovery in market confidence for crude selenium recently, and an improvement in buyers' interest in purchasing.

As the mid-year approaches and Q3 is just around the corner, given the remarkable performance of selenium prices in July last year, both buyers and sellers in the market are showing keen interest and are eager to participate. From recent market transactions, although selenium product prices have further bottomed out, there have been continuous transactions. On one hand, this reflects the industry chain's optimism about the medium and long-term market. On the other hand, many market participants have stated that with selenium prices currently at historical lows, the risk of continuing to buy at these levels is minimal. This explains why there has been frequent buying activity in recent selenium product tenders.

Bismuth Prices Rebound to 136,000 Yuan/Tonne; Supply and Demand Dynamics in Focus
Bismuth prices bottomed out and rebounded in August, with continuous gains pushing the price to 136,000 yuan/tonne by the end of the month, and upward momentum has strengthened. On the supply side, output in July rose month‑on‑month by 13.5%. Should production remain at a high level going forward, it will cap further price increases. On the demand side, consumption from traditional downstream sectors stayed generally stable. Meanwhile, the minor‑metals sector has drawn rising market attention boosted by emerging industries such as expanding AI computing power. On the raw‑material side, bismuth concentrate bidding activity was brisk in August, indicating normal circulation of raw‑material supply. Overall, after a sharp correction in June‑July, bismuth prices are now in a bottom‑repair phase. The sustainability of the current rebound will largely depend on the pace of upstream production release and matching strength from real‑world demand.
