Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On June 24, BYD held the delivery and naming ceremony for its sixth car carrier vessel, the BYD CHANGSHA, in Haimen, Jiangsu Province, according to a post on BYD's WeChat account.
Named after the historic city of Changsha, the vessel embodies the pioneering spirit long associated with the city. It features 9,200 standard vehicle spaces and is powered by the latest LNG dual-fuel clean energy technology, enabling faster, safer, and more environmentally friendly global deliveries of BYD vehicles.
Just days earlier, on June 21, BYD delivered its fifth car carrier, the BYD XI'AN, in Yizheng, Jiangsu, marking another major milestone in the company's growing maritime logistics fleet.
China's automobile exports have maintained robust growth in 2025. From January to May, the country exported 2.83 million vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 16%. In May alone, exports reached 682,000 units, up 22% from the same period last year. As China's export volume continues to rise, demand for dedicated car carriers is also growing. BYD's self-operated fleet strengthens control over critical transport capacity, offering solid logistical support for the company's global expansion.
BYD's overseas sales also remain strong. In May, the company sold 88,640 vehicles abroad, representing a 133.6% year-on-year increase. Its new energy vehicles (NEVs) are now sold in over 100 countries and regions. The BYD XI'AN is already en route to Europe with approximately 7,000 BYD vehicles bound for the UK, Italy, Spain, and Belgium.
To date, BYD's self-operated vessels—the EXPLORER NO.1, the BYD CHANGZHOU, the BYD HEFEI, the BYD SHENZHEN, and the BYD XI'AN—have transported over 70,000 NEVs globally. The addition of BYD CHANGSHA further bolsters the company's international logistics capacity and adds new momentum to the global push of Chinese automotive brands.
