[Baltic Dry Index Closes Higher]
The Baltic Dry Index ended a five-day losing streak, driven by an increase in Panamax vessel rates. The Baltic Dry Index rose by 7 points, or 0.4%, to 1,681 points. The Panamax vessel rate index increased by 22 points, or 1.6%, to 1,384 points.
The daily average earnings of Panamax vessels rose by $201 to $12,455. The Capesize vessel rate index fell by 1 point to 2,817 points, its lowest level since June 4. This rate index has declined for six consecutive trading days. The daily average earnings of Capesize vessels fell by $7 to $23,360. The Supramax bulk carrier rate index rose by 4 points to 983 points.
