On June 20, 2025, the Administrative Committee of Lingang New Area, Shanghai, the People's Government of Fengxian District, China Kangfu International Leasing Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "China Kangfu"), and Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. officially signed a cooperation agreement to jointly invest 4 billion yuan in the construction of the Grid-Forming Zero-Carbon Energy International Cooperation Demonstration Center Project. The project will be implemented by Shanghai Kang'ao Energy Technology Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Kangfu, and will utilize Tesla's Megapack energy storage products to build the world's first gigawatt-hour-level grid-side standalone ESS power station and supporting industrial park in Lingang New Area. This will also be Tesla's first grid-side ESS project in mainland China, which is expected to be connected to the grid before the end of 2025. Upon completion, the project will enhance Shanghai's new energy consumption capacity by participating in power grid peak shaving and frequency regulation, as well as spot cargo power trading. It will alleviate the pressure on power regulation during peak summer and winter seasons, ensuring stable power supply in the region. As an important application extension of Tesla's Shanghai Energy Storage Mega-factory, the project will promote the global dissemination of the "Lingang Zero-Carbon Energy Solution" and collaborate with over 20 energy storage enterprises already gathered in Lingang to accelerate the creation of a 100-billion-yuan-level energy storage industry hub.
