[India Imposes 5-Year Anti-Dumping Duties on Chinese Aluminium Foil Imports as Domestic Producers Push for Market Resilience]

Published: Jun 24, 2025 00:29
In March 2025, India imposed five-year anti-dumping duties on aluminium foil from China, Russia, and Taiwan, after finding these countries sold foil below fair value and harmed domestic producers. The duty ranges from USD 479 to USD 721 per tonne. India’s foil demand is growing at 5.9% annually, with consumption expected to reach 400,000 tonnes by 2028. In 2024, India’s share of Chinese foil imports rose to 10%, totaling over 140,000 tonnes. Domestic producers are expanding capacity, but it remains uncertain if the new duties will sharply reduce Chinese imports.
