Chery set to become China's first automaker to export over 5 million cars

The company mentioned this at the Hong Kong auto show yesterday, stating that it exported about 440,000 vehicles from January to May, maintaining its position as China's top automaker in terms of exports.
Chery has been the top exporter of Chinese-brand passenger vehicles for 22 consecutive years, according to the company. Currently, Chery has entered nearly 120 countries and regions.
Chery exported 100,737 vehicles in May, marking the second month this year with exports exceeding 100,000 units, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
From January to May, Chery exported 443,940 vehicles, representing a year-on-year increase of 1.99 percent.

The automotive giant showcased a total of 12 models across its brands, including Chery, Exeed, Jetour, iCAR, Luxeed, Omoda & Jaecoo, and Jetour Global, at the Hong Kong auto show.
These models include battery electric vehicles (BEVs), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), and extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs), covering both family and off-road scenarios.

After officially entering the Hong Kong market, Chery will first launch the all-electric models Omoda 5 and Jaecoo 6, as well as the hybrid model Jaecoo 7, it said.

Chery is one of China's largest automakers, having sold a record 2,603,916 vehicles in 2024, with annual revenue exceeding RMB 480 billion ($67 billion) for the first time, according to data released on January 1.

Its new energy vehicle (NEV) sales in 2024 reached 583,569 units, representing a year-on-year increase of 232.7 percent.

The company exported 1,144,588 vehicles in 2024, marking a year-on-year increase of 21.4 percent.

On May 25, the board of directors of Sunwoda reviewed and approved a proposal regarding the capital increase and share expansion of its subsidiary, Sunwoda Power.
