German recycler Speira GmbH has commissioned its first new aluminum recycling furnace at its Grevenbroich plant in Germany. The company's aluminum recycling capacity enhancement project, with a total investment of 11 million euros, has commenced operations. This is the first of four furnaces to be installed at its Grevenbroich and Töging plants. The new-type tiltable rotary furnace can melt up to 25 mt of material at a time, including lower-grade materials or heavily contaminated scrap and dross generated during the smelting process. The company's decision to invest in the installation of four furnaces was made in July 2024. Currently, the entire project is progressing smoothly. The first furnace at the Töging plant is expected to commence operations in October 2025, the second furnace at the Grevenbroich plant will commence operations in May 2026, and the second furnace at the Töging plant will commence operations in October 2026.
