On June 6, 2025, Ju Anran, Senior Manager of SMM's Aluminum Category, and Liu Xinyi, Analyst of SMM's Aluminum Category, led a delegation to the Jakarta office of Huafon Group, where they held discussions with the group's management team.

Company Profile

PT Hua Chin Aluminum Indonesia is a joint venture registered in the Morowali Industrial Park (IMIP) in Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. It was jointly funded by Huafon Group Co., Ltd. (established in May 1991, headquartered in Wenzhou, Zhejiang, specializing in new chemical materials, with products covering adipic acid and downstream polymers such as polyurethane, spandex, microfibers, etc., employing over 18,000 people, and generating revenue exceeding $10 billion in 2022) and Tsingshan Holding Group (holding a 35% stake) in a 65:35 ratio, with a total investment of approximately $921 million. The project leverages Huafon's R&D capabilities and Tsingshan's low-cost power generation and smelting technologies to construct production lines with an annual capacity of 500,000 mt of electrolytic aluminum and 250,000 mt of anode carbon. The first phase, with a capacity of 500,000 mt, commenced commercial operations in 2025, employing approximately 2,000 people on-site.

During the discussions, both sides engaged in in-depth exchanges on corporate vision and long-term strategic planning, industry chain collaboration, and progress in innovative R&D. Representatives from Huafon Group elaborated on the company's latest achievements in smelting technology, intelligent manufacturing upgrades, and sustainable supply chain management, and shared their insights into global aluminum market trends. The SMM delegation, in turn, proposed recommendations for optimizing raw material procurement, enhancing product premium capabilities, and adopting flexible pricing models, based on changes in overseas market demand and cost structures. Both sides reached a preliminary consensus on strengthening technological collaboration, conducting joint surveys, and promoting low-carbon demonstration projects. They plan to initiate multiple cooperation arrangements in the near future, laying a solid foundation for in-depth cooperation in Indonesia's aluminum industry in the future.
