50,000-Ton Lithium Battery Recycling Project Potentially Lands in Chongqing
Recently, the Development and Reform Commission platform of Qijiang District, Chongqing, announced the acceptance of a new energy vehicle battery recycling and comprehensive utilization project. The project will comprehensively process 50,000 tons of retired lithium batteries, including 10,000 tons of waste ternary lithium batteries and 40,000 tons of waste lithium iron phosphate batteries. After processing, outputs will include 12,000 tons of lithium batteries, 3,336 tons of lithium carbonate, 1,954.25 tons of manganese sulfate, 2,157.21 tons of cobalt sulfate, 5,052.07 tons of nickel sulfate, and 7,140.33 tons of sodium sulfate.
3,000-Ton Lithium Battery Project Announced
On June 18, a company announced plans to build a "3,000-ton/year lithium battery new materials project" in Linwu County, with a total investment of RMB 1 billion. The project will be implemented in three phases: Phase I focuses on R&D breakthroughs (completed by 2025); Phase II constructs a 1,000-ton/year production line (construction starts April 2026, operation by end-2027); Phase III adds a 2,000-ton/year line (construction starts June 2027, operation by end-2028).
20,000-Ton Lithium Hexafluorophosphate Project Operational
A 2,000-ton/year lithium hexafluorophosphate project (Phase I) recently commenced production in Zhejiang. The full project, with a total investment of RMB 5.18 billion, will ultimately produce 20,000 tons/year of lithium hexafluorophosphate, 5,000 tons/year of lithium bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide, 2,000 tons/year of vinylene carbonate, and 50,000 tons/year of lithium battery electrolyte, alongside byproducts. Phase II will cover remaining capacities.
50,000-Ton Recycling Project Nears Trial Production
The first production line of Phase I of a 50,000-ton/year lithium iron phosphate cathode material project is preparing for trial runs in Hubei. With a total investment of RMB 2 billion, the project will process waste lithium batteries and regenerate battery materials. Phase I includes a 25,000-ton/year production line.
15,000-Ton Lithium Battery Recycling Project Launched in Meizhou
A 15,000-ton/year waste lithium battery disassembly and recycling project recently passed environmental review in Guangdong. The project, with an investment of RMB 130 million, will physically separate lithium-ion battery materials through crushing and sorting.
New Recycling Industrial Base Breaks Ground
On June 10, a new renewable resource recycling industrial base and energy storage manufacturing base broke ground in Guangdong. The recycling base, with an investment of RMB 1.7 billion, will adopt robotic automation and proprietary safety platforms. Phase I covers 30 acres.
40,000-Ton LMFP Project Advances
A 40,000-ton/year lithium manganese iron phosphate (LMFP) project in Hunan is accelerating construction and is expected to begin production by late June. The project represents an investment of RMB 350 million.
15,000-Ton Waste Battery Project in Anhui
A green intelligent waste lithium battery processing project was announced in Anhui. Upon completion, it will handle 5,000 tons/year of waste lithium batteries and 10,000 tons/year of waste lithium electrode sheets.
50,000-Ton Battery Echelon Utilization Project Launched
A project in Anhui to annually recycle 50,000 tons of retired power batteries and produce 500 energy storage containers passed environmental review. The RMB 120 million project includes smart warehousing and traceability systems.
10,000-Ton Waste Lithium Battery Project in Xining
An electrolytic aluminum hazardous waste utilization project in Qinghai entered its second environmental review phase. The RMB 220 million project will process 80,000 tons/year of waste and produce lithium carbonate, graphite powder, and other materials.
