Shanghai (Gasgoo)- BYD announced on June 19 via its WeChat account that it had put the SEAL 5 DM-i model onto the market in Poland and Slovakia, further expanding the automaker's presence in Europe's PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) segment.

As BYD's second PHEV model to enter the European market, the SEAL 5 DM-i blends refined design, spacious interiors, and cutting-edge electrification technology. With its comfort-focused features, advanced intelligent systems, ultra-low fuel consumption, and extended driving range, the model aims to redefine expectations in Europe's sedan market.

Stella Li, Executive Vice President of BYD, noted: "Hybrid vehicles are becoming a key driver of Europe's electric transition. Over the past decade, hybrid vehicle market share in Europe has grown by nearly 40%. The strong sales of the BYD Song PLUS DM-i have already proven European consumers' trust in our DM hybrid technology. We're excited to bring the SEAL 5 DM-i to Europe. It offers not only an impressive combined range on a full charge and tank but also delivers a user-centric experience with its comfortable cabin and generous trunk space. We're confident in its performance in the European market."

The SEAL 5 DM-i's core advantage lies in BYD's DM-i super hybrid technology, which enables a combined fuel consumption as low as approximately 1.7 liters per 100 kilometers—greatly reducing operating costs for users. Designed by BYD Global Design Director Wolfgang Egger and his team, the vehicle draws on marine-inspired aesthetics and aerodynamic principles. Its wave-like flowing lines and sharp front spoilers not only enhance visual appeal but also improve the car's energy efficiency by optimizing airflow and drag.

Following its debut in Poland and Slovakia, the SEAL 5 DM-i will also be introduced in the Czech Republic, Romania, and Croatia. To date, BYD's new energy vehicles are present in over 110 countries and regions worldwide, continuing to accelerate the global shift toward greener mobility through advanced technology.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
