On June 18, the Transport Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region announced that Baidu's self-driving taxi service, Apollo Go, had been approved to conduct tests on designated road sections and during specified time periods in Tung Chung, Hong Kong, further enriching the application scenarios of autonomous driving. This represents a new development for Apollo Go in Hong Kong following the Transport Department's update of the trial license for autonomous vehicles and the expansion of Apollo Go's testing area in Hong Kong at the end of April. Currently, its testing scope has extended from the initial area around the airport to the core area of North Lantau Island, and now to the Tung Chung urban living area, with a safe driving mileage exceeding 15,000 kilometers.
