Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On June 16, at the UITP Summit Hamburg 2025 in Germany, BYD unveiled its latest pure electric bus, the B13.b, marking the model's global debut, according to a press release from BYD.

The B13.b was showcased alongside the B12.b, which represents BYD's flagship solution for cutting-edge urban public transit.

Both the B12.b and B13.b feature BYD's proprietary CTC (cell-to-chassis) technology, which innovatively incorporates the Blade Battery directly into the vehicle's structural frame. This design significantly reduces vehicle weight, enhances energy efficiency, and improves torsional rigidity, safety, ride comfort, and handling. In addition, both models are equipped with BYD's advanced silicon carbide-based six-in-one controller, in-wheel motors, and active suspension control system. This comprehensive technology suite delivers an optimal balance of performance and energy consumption while setting new benchmarks for quietness and safety in urban public transport.

The B13.b is a 13-meter pure electric coach engineered specifically for intercity operations. With a passenger capacity of up to 78 and equipped with a 560 kWh Blade Battery pack, the B13.b offers a maximum range of 700 kilometers, making it well-suited for long-distance routes. Its combination of extended range, powerful performance, and a quiet, comfortable cabin delivers a smooth and refined travel experience for intercity passengers, providing European transit operators with a highly efficient and eco-friendly solution.

Also on display was the B12.b, BYD's first 12-meter city bus model to adopt the Blade Battery-enabled CTC technology. Already proven in real-world operations, the B12.b is tailored for high-frequency, high-intensity urban routes and underscores BYD's continued leadership in urban e-mobility.

To date, BYD's commercial vehicle division has secured over 6,700-unit bus orders in Europe, with deployments across more than 160 cities in 26 countries. The company's all-electric buses have collectively logged 590 million kilometers of operation range, helping reduce carbon emissions by an estimated 630,000 tonnes and contributing significantly to Europe's green transport transformation.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
