Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On June 18, Leapmotor officially put the 2026 C16 model onto the market, offering eight variants across five-seat and six-seat configurations, priced between 151,800 yuan and 181,800 yuan.

As a refreshed model, the 2026 C16 brings over 70 upgrades across comfort, range, intelligence, and design.

The new C16 retains the core exterior and interior design of the current model, with familiar elements such as a full-width LED headlight, closed-off grille, and sculpted lower intake reminiscent of the Leapmotor C10. However, the C16's larger proportions lend it a more commanding presence. Measuring 4,915 mm in length, 1,905 mm in width, and 1,770 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,825 mm, the vehicle also comes with 21-inch wheels.

The rear design continues the family aesthetic with a full-width taillight, while the REEV (range-extended electric vehicle) version features hidden exhaust outlets for a seamless appearance similar to the BEV (battery electric vehicle) variant.

Inside, the cabin is fitted with a 14.6-inch central infotainment screen paired with a 10.25-inch LCD instrument cluster. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip, the system supports 360-degree panoramic imaging, a natural voice assistant, and FACE ID facial recognition. Rear passengers are offered a 15.6-inch entertainment screen, a 21-speaker audio system, and wireless fast charging.

In a notable expansion of the lineup, Leapmotor has introduced a five-seat version in addition to the six-seat configuration, offering enhanced rear legroom. The driver's seat now features adjustable lumbar support, and seat massage functions have been added for both the front and second rows.

All models come standard with a 128-line LiDAR unit and adopt the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8650 chip for assisted driving, enabling end-to-end driver assistance capabilities, including a new memory parking function. The chassis is equipped with front and rear FSD adaptive dampers and a One-Box brake system. It also features the LMC (Leapmotor Motion Control) integrated motion control chassis, which provides blowout stability control at speeds up to 120 km/h.

Powertrain options remain unchanged, offering both REEV and BEV versions. The REEV variants continue to use a 1.5L range extender, delivering a total system output of 170 kW and peak torque of 320 Nm. Its battery-powered range has been increased from 200 km to 280 km, while combined range stands at 1,150 km. Charging time from 30% to 80% has been reduced to 19 minutes.

The BEV versions now offer a unified range of 630 km, up from the previous 520km/580 km, and features a slightly more powerful motor rated at 220 kW with 360 Nm of torque.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
