[Teck Receives Key Approval for Highland Valley Copper Mine Life Extension]
On June 17th, Teck Resources announced that the British Columbia government has granted an Environmental Assessment Certificate for the Highland Valley Copper Mine Life Extension (HVC MLE) project.
The approval enables Teck to move forward with site preparation and additional permitting, with a final construction decision expected in Q3 2025. The project is set to create 2,900 construction jobs and support 1,500 ongoing positions, while contributing $500 million annually to GDP. If sanctioned, HVC’s mine life would be extended to the mid-2040s.
