Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On June 17, Chinese intelligent driving and cabin solutions provider MINIEYE announced it has been nominated as the exclusive supplier for SAIC MAXUS' Driver Monitoring System (DMS) project, marking a major breakthrough in the mass adoption and global expansion of its smart cockpit technologies.
Under the agreement, MINIEYE's self-developed integrated DMS device, the iCabin Lite, will be installed across a range of flagship light-duty commercial vehicles from SAIC MAXUS.
The iCabin Lite represents the forefront of perception hardware innovation in smart cockpits. Unlike traditional split-system setups, this fully integrated solution combines both the DMS camera and controller, reflecting industry trends toward greater integration and compact design. By addressing automakers' core demands for development efficiency, cost control, and multi-model compatibility, the iCabin Lite sets a new benchmark for DMS hardware solutions.
Powered by high-performance, automotive-grade China-made chips, the iCabin Lite features a compact and flexible design suitable for various mounting positions, including the A-pillar and steering column. It seamlessly integrates MINIEYE's proprietary DMS algorithms to support real-time monitoring of driver fatigue and distraction, as well as AOI (Area of Interest) gaze tracking, enabling early identification of potential safety risks and timely alerts.
The highly integrated design not only streamlines supply chain and assembly processes but also reduces system complexity and manufacturing costs, while maximizing algorithm performance and ensuring system stability. This positions the iCabin Lite as a key enabler for the scalable deployment of smart cockpit perception systems.
Amid accelerating automotive industry transformation and tightening global safety regulations, compliance has become critical for Chinese automakers seeking to expand overseas. The iCabin Lite is fully compliant with EU safety standards including ADDW (Advanced Driver Distraction Warning) and DDAW (Driver Drowsiness and Attention Warning), offering leading-edge regulation readiness, high integration, and cost efficiency. These advantages will support Chinese automakers in entering global markets more competitively.
MINIEYE said the partnership with SAIC MAXUS equips its flagship light-duty commercial vehicles with critical safety technology. These models, outfitted with the iCabin Lite, will serve both domestic and European markets and are expected to expand into high-potential regions such as South America, further advancing MINIEYE's global footprint.
MINIEYE added that with a forward-looking strategy and deep expertise in DMS technology, it has built a differentiated product matrix centered on cockpit-driving fusion. It has become a vital partner in strengthening the global competitiveness of Chinese automakers.
Looking ahead, MINIEYE plans to leverage its full-stack R&D capabilities to iterate its technology continuously, enhance human-machine interaction experiences, and accelerate the mass production of DMS solutions across passenger and commercial vehicles—driving safer, smarter, and more personalized mobility for users worldwide.
