Loudi Economic and Technological Development Zoneis located in the northern part of Loudi City's urban area. It was established in 2003 and upgraded to a national-level economic and technological development zone in 2012. The built-up area spans 20.26 square kilometers, encompassing two subdistricts (Lianbin and Dabuqiao) and 28 villages (communities), with a total population of 120,000. It has been recognized as a National High-Tech Industrial Base, a National New Industrialization Industrial Demonstration Base, and one of the first batch of National Industrial Transformation and Upgrading Demonstration Parks.

In 2022, it ranked second among national-level parks and fourth among provincial-level and above parks in Hunan Province's comprehensive "Five Good Parks" ranking. It ranked 77th in the comprehensive development level assessment of national-level economic and technological development zones by the Ministry of Commerce, 18th in the central region, and 2nd in the province. In 2023, it again ranked second among national-level parks in Hunan Province's comprehensive "Five Good Parks" ranking. In 2024, it achieved a total revenue of 183.5 billion yuan from industry, trade, and technology services, up 9.2% YoY, with the total output value of large-scale industries increasing by 2.8% YoY, the added value of large-scale industries growing by 8.6%, fixed asset investment reaching 25.067 billion yuan, up 4.6% YoY, local general public budget revenue at 872 million yuan, up 11.1%, and actual foreign investment utilized throughout the year reaching $78.7 million, up 1,173% YoY.

The zone aims to create a "Materials Valley" in the central region, steadily advancing the construction of five specialized industrial parks, including an electrical steel industrial park and a sheet metal deep processing industrial park. It has formed a "two primary and one specialty" industrial structure of new steel materials, general equipment manufacturing, and automotive parts. The zone has gathered 168 enterprises above designated size, 3 national-level scientific research institutions, 53 provincial-level innovation platforms, 66 specialized and sophisticated "little giant" enterprises, and 117 high-tech enterprises. It has achieved a production scale of 800,000 mt of high-end home appliance panels, 1 million mt of high-strength steel, 2 million mt of automotive panels, and 2 million mt of high-end electrical steel, establishing itself as a production base for mid-to-high-end automotive panels, a smart manufacturing industrial park for hydraulic cylinders, the largest high-strength steel production base in Asia, and the largest electrical steel substrate production base in China. The deep processing industry of sheet metal has been listed as a major industrial and information technology industry in the "14th Five-Year Plan" of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and one of the top ten "100-billion-yuan industrial clusters" in Hunan Province.
