[CATL Officially Announces Mass Production and Delivery of 587Ah Battery Cell]
Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) has officially announced the mass production and delivery of its next-generation, large-capacity energy storage system (ESS)-specific battery cell, the 587Ah. It is understood that the energy density of CATL's 587Ah battery cell reaches 434Wh/L, representing a 10% increase over the previous generation and a 25% increase in system energy density. Through breakthroughs in three major areas—mechanical structure, chemical system, and pole piece design—the initial value of the round-trip efficiency (RTE) during charge and discharge cycles has reached 96.5%. Tests have shown that the failure rate caused by self-discharge in CATL's 587Ah battery cell is an order of magnitude lower than that of laminated batteries.
