ArcelorMittal held an inauguration ceremony for a new 20 million mt capacity iron ore beneficiation plant in Tokadeh, Nimba County, Liberia. This facility is one of the largest iron ore beneficiation plants in Africa and is part of ArcelorMittal's $1.8 billion expansion project, which will bring the company's total investment in Liberia to $3 billion. The project will increase annual production from 5 million mt to 20 million mt while improving ore quality. Infrastructure upgrades include the renovation of the railway from Tokadeh to Buchanan and the construction of a new terminal with material handling facilities. ArcelorMittal plans to further expand to an annual capacity of 30 million mt, with the potential to produce direct reduced iron (DRI)-grade concentrate. To meet future growth demands, the company has upgraded railway capacity to 30 million mt per year.
