CATL Officially Announces Mass Production and Delivery of 587Ah Battery Cells
CATL has officially announced the mass production and delivery of its next-generation, large-capacity energy storage system (ESS)-specific battery cells—the 587Ah battery cells. It is understood that the energy density of CATL's 587Ah battery cell reaches 434Wh/L, representing a 10% increase over the previous generation, with a 25% improvement in system energy density. Through breakthroughs in three major aspects—mechanical structure, chemical system, and pole piece design—the initial value of the round-trip efficiency (RTE) during charge and discharge cycles has reached 96.5%. Tests have shown that the failure rate caused by self-discharge in CATL's 587Ah battery cells is an order of magnitude lower than that of laminated cells.
