[US Rare Earth Magnet Imports Decline 41% in April] US imports of rare earth permanent magnets fell to 491 mt in April, a 41% decrease compared to the same period last year. Imports of sintered NdFeB magnets also dropped by 44% in April, to 430 mt. China supplied 391 mt, with an average price of $30.07/kg, while Japan and Thailand supplied 17 mt and 7 mt, respectively. US imports of SmCo magnets declined to 61 mt in April, a 19% decrease compared to the same period last year. Diversified suppliers have, to some extent, mitigated the impact of export controls. In April, Japan exported 40 mt of SmCo magnets, and Germany exported 17 mt. China, however, only exported 21 mt, a decrease from 68 mt in March and 42 mt in the same period last year.
