US Employment Trends Index Declines to 107.49 in May Amid Rising Unemployment Claims

[US Employment Trends Index Falls to 107.49 in May] Data released by The Conference Board showed that the US Employment Trends Index for May was 107.49, down from the revised 108 in April. Among them, the number of people filing initial claims for unemployment insurance rose to 235,000 in May, the highest level since July 2024. Barnes, an economist at The Conference Board, stated that changes in data in some sectors are beginning to be observed, which may indicate that the pressure from the US government's tariff policies is starting to emerge.
