CPCA Branch Advocates for Market-Oriented Price Competition Amid Automotive Market Dynamics

[CPCA Branch: Fully Encourage Market-Oriented Price Competition in the Industry] In response to the latest round of "price wars" in the automotive market, Cui Dongshu, Secretary General of the CPCA Branch, stated that the "price wars" in the automotive market represent long-term price competition. We fully encourage market-oriented price competition within the industry to achieve better quality and efficiency improvements, as well as technological innovation. Currently, the price of lithium carbonate is gradually stabilizing, dropping from 600,000 yuan per mt in January 2023 to 80,000 yuan per mt in July 2024, and further to 60,000 yuan per mt this year. Resource prices have significantly decreased, with costs falling to reasonable levels. Therefore, sales promotions are a relatively normal phenomenon. Price competition in the automotive market has been relatively mild overall this year. We hope to maintain the current mild situation, and it is a normal measure to take certain actions against "fixed-price" behaviors.

[SMM Energy Storage Battery Cell Market Weekly Review 9.3] Tight copper foil supply constrains September production schedules, energy storage battery cell prices remain firm
[SMM Analysis] Affected by tight copper foil supply and slower-than-expected capacity ramp-up for large-capacity battery cells, China and global energy storage battery cell production growth in September is expected to slow to 4.09% and 4.25% MoM, respectively, but this does not indicate weakening end-use demand. Supply-demand conditions for energy storage battery cells remain tight, with 314Ah battery cell prices holding steady. Shipments are expected to rise steadily going forward, with prices continuing their stable-to-higher trend.

CATL Chairman: China's NEV Sales Surpass 7.4M in H1, Emphasizes Precision in Battery Production
CATL Chairman Zeng Yuqun, in a video address to the 2026 World Power Battery Conference, said that in H1 this year, China's NEV sales exceeded 7.4 million units, with over 600 new models launched, averaging nearly three per day. Everyone is competing on speed, specifications, and price, and development cycles are getting shorter. He noted that power batteries require extremely high precision and have very low tolerance for error. In mass production, all small issues are magnified many times over, so every process and every parameter must be strictly controlled from the design stage, anomalies must be identified in advance, and there must be zero tolerance for quality problems.
