[Japan No Longer Demands Full Abolition of US Auto Tariffs, Proposes Tax Reduction Plan] According to Japan's Asahi Shimbun, Japan is no longer demanding that the US fully abolish the 25% auto tariffs. Instead, it has proposed a tax reduction mechanism that would lower tariffs based on the extent of each country's contribution to the US auto industry. According to Japan's latest proposal, the US would reduce auto tariffs based on factors such as the number of cars produced by Japanese automakers in the US and the number of cars exported from the US to other markets.
