[SMM Daily Review: Spot Lithium Carbonate Prices Continue to Decline on June 5]
The SMM index price for battery-grade lithium carbonate was 60,391 yuan/mt, down 26 yuan/mt MoM from the previous working day. Battery-grade lithium carbonate was priced at 59,400-61,000 yuan/mt, with an average price of 60,200 yuan/mt, down 50 yuan/mt MoM from the previous working day. Industrial-grade lithium carbonate was priced at 58,100-59,100 yuan/mt, with an average price of 58,600 yuan/mt, down 50 yuan/mt MoM from the previous working day. The price center of spot lithium carbonate transaction prices continued to move downward. The phased rebound in lithium carbonate futures prices in late May provided crucial hedging opportunities for non-integrated lithium chemical plants, stimulating expectations of a restorative increase in supply in June. In June, lithium carbonate supply is expected to increase while demand remains stable, and the surplus pattern will persist. Additionally, the inventory pressure of lithium ore at ports has led to a significant decline in raw material prices, with cost support continuing to weaken, maintaining the overall downward trend in the market.
