Vice President of the European Commission Maroš Šefčovič said that progress had been made in trade negotiations with the US. Both sides are moving in the right direction, aiming to maintain this momentum and achieve positive results. The EU is prepared to defend its interests and strive to rebalance trade relations. Šefčovič pointed out that Trump's increase in steel and aluminum tariffs did not help the negotiations, and called on the US and the EU to jointly address the issue of overcapacity. According to estimates by the European Commission, the tariffs imposed by Trump currently cover 380 billion euros, accounting for approximately 70% of EU exports to the US.
