Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On May 29, 2025, REPT BATTERO Energy Co., Ltd. ("REPT BATTERO") signed a strategic memorandum of understanding with Indonesia's Bakrie & Brothers Group to collaborate on battery systems for commercial electric vehicles, aiming to accelerate the adoption of green energy in the Indonesian market, according to a post on REPT's WeChat account.

Under the agreement, the two parties plan to deliver power batteries for more than 3,000 electric buses and trucks within 2025.

REPT's Indonesian manufacturing base, PT REPT BATTERO INDONESIA, will produce power battery systems compliant with Indonesia's local content requirements (TKDN). The plant will support commercial vehicle customers under the concept of "Indonesian Born, Global Contribution," contributing to the nation's goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2060 or earlier.

PT VKTR Teknologi Mobilitas Tbk ("VKTR"), a company under the Bakrie & Brothers Group, is Indonesia's first commercial electric vehicle manufacturing facility. It focuses on the production and sales of electric buses and light- and heavy-duty trucks. The factory offers a full suite of manufacturing capabilities, including chassis assembly, battery integration, body welding, painting, final assembly, and vehicle testing.

Looking ahead, the two companies will deepen strategic cooperation across the green transportation value chain under the vision of "Green Transport, Made in Indonesia." This includes collaboration in nickel smelting, battery materials, power cells and systems, and integrated solutions for vehicles, energy storage, and charging. REPT will supply advanced battery systems that meet local manufacturing requirements, while VKTR will handle production, sales, and promotion of electric commercial vehicles. It also aims to spearhead low-carbon demonstration projects such as green public transit and sustainable mining transport.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
