EU Regrets Trump's Steel and Aluminum Tariff Increase, Negotiations Continue

A spokesperson for the European Commission expressed regret over US President Trump's announcement to raise tariffs on steel and aluminum from 25% to 50%. This decision has exacerbated economic uncertainties on both sides of the Atlantic. Negotiations are still ongoing, with both sides agreeing to expedite the process, and talks will be held this week. European Commissioner for Trade Šefčovič will meet with US Trade Representative Greer in Paris, France, on June 4.
