[Global Newbuilding Orders Slow Down] The global newbuilding market remained relatively calm. According to the latest data from the DNV AFI platform, only 16 newbuilding orders for alternative fuel vessels were added in May 2025. However, against the backdrop of a low overall order volume, alternative fuel vessel types still demonstrated strong market appeal. Statistics show that a total of eight LPG-fueled vessel orders were added in May, accounting for half of all new alternative fuel newbuilding orders. Meanwhile, positive progress was also made in LNG-fueled vessels, with six new orders added, including four container ships and two cruise ships, reflecting the expanding application scope of LNG fuel across various vessel types.
