In 2024, Japan's imports of primary aluminum increased by 20,400 mt from the previous year, a 1.99% rise to 1.0519 million mt, falling short of the 1.17 million mt level during the 2020 pandemic. Japan's primary aluminum imports mainly originated from countries such as Australia, Brazil, and the UAE. Except for imports from New Zealand, Malaysia, and Russia, which decreased by 13,100 mt, 3,000 mt, and 54,200 mt respectively from the previous year, imports from other countries all showed varying degrees of growth. Among them, imports from Australia, Brazil, and the UAE increased by 7,300 mt, 9,400 mt, and 14,300 mt respectively from the previous year. Imports of secondary aluminum alloy reached 1.0643 million mt, a decrease of 1.34 mt from the previous year, representing a 1.25% decline.
