US President Donald Trump announced that the US would raise tariffs on imported steel and aluminum to 50%, sparking opposition from Canada and Australia. Bea Bruske, President of the Canadian Labour Congress, called it a direct attack on Canada and said it would have an economic impact. Don Farrell, Australia's Minister for Trade and Tourism, stated that raising tariffs on imported steel was unreasonable and an act of economic self-harm that would harm consumers and businesses relying on free and fair trade.
