Shanghai (Gasgoo)- CATL announced on May 30 via its WeChat account that it has recently signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Company ("Dongfeng Nissan") in Shanghai. The two parties will establish comprehensive, end-to-end collaboration across battery technology R&D, product innovation, and market expansion, while exploring a new integrated model for joint development, production, and marketing.
Under the agreement, CATL will prioritize the application of its cutting-edge technologies—including ultra-fast charging solutions, the CIIC (CATL Integrated Intelligent Chassis), and 800V high-voltage platforms—in upcoming Dongfeng Nissan models. By 2026, several new models equipped with co-developed battery systems are expected to enter the market, offering consumers a broader selection of high-quality new energy vehicle (NEV) options.
The two companies will also continue to explore innovative business models and jointly promote breakthroughs in new energy vehicle (NEV) technologies and product upgrades, accelerating the widespread adoption of NEVs.
In a related development, CATL signed a memorandum of enhanced cooperation with Honda Motor China Technology Co., Ltd. (“Honda China”) in mid-May. Building on their existing partnership, the two sides will intensify collaboration in new technology R&D and supply chain management, aiming to fuel product innovation and elevate the user experience.
Key areas of focus for this deeper collaboration include lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, Cell-to-Body (CTB) integration, supply chain optimization, and the development of 12V and hybrid power batteries. CATL and Honda China will also continue to explore new business cooperation models, supporting the broader upgrade of the NEV industry.
