Recently, the preliminary list of the first batch of pilot test platforms to be cultivated by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) as key industries was announced, with the magnesium-based light alloy product pilot test platform of Anhui Baomei Light Alloy Co., Ltd. making the list.

To further promote the steady growth of the industrial economy and fully leverage the driving and supporting role of key industries, the MIIT encourages and promotes innovative development of pilot tests in the manufacturing sector, accelerates the tiered cultivation of pilot test platforms, and clearly proposes: strengthening the reserve of manufacturing pilot test platforms, optimizing the key directions and construction paths for the layout of pilot test platforms, and selecting a batch of pilot test platforms for key cultivation to promote the upgrading of qualified pilot test platforms to a higher level.

In terms of hardware facilities, the pilot test platform plans to purchase a series of key equipment, including a dolomite calcination high-temperature vacuum furnace, a powder ball mill, a powder briquetting machine, a magnesium reduction electric heating furnace, a magnesium alloy melting furnace, and a magnesium alloy die-casting machine. Meanwhile, the pilot test platform has reserved sites for the R&D of cutting-edge technologies such as high-purity magnesium alloys and magnesium hydrogen storage, laying the foundation for future technological iterations.

In terms of R&D directions, the pilot test platform focuses on areas such as the preparation technology of magnesium-based light alloys, material performance optimization, and processing technology improvement. It is committed to developing more efficient and environmentally friendly smelting processes and equipment to meet the market demand for high-performance magnesium-based materials. Through experimental research, it systematically collects and analyzes the impact of key process parameters on material performance, develops environmentally friendly and low-cost magnesium smelting technologies and deep processing technologies for products, providing scientific guidance for large-scale production. It also takes the lead in or participates in the formulation of industry standards to promote the standardized development of the magnesium-based light alloy industry.

Upon completion, the pilot test platform will be capable of conducting research and development on miniaturized magnesium smelting processes and deep processing technologies, and providing public services such as magnesium smelting process optimization, magnesium alloy product design and verification, magnesium alloy sample trial production, and internship bases for university-enterprise cooperation.
