Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On May 28, RADAR, the high-end new energy outdoor lifestyle vehicle brand under Geely Auto Group, held its EM-P Super Product Experience event in Chengdu city. At the event, the brand officially put two new PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) models—the RADAR Horizon EM-P and the RADAR King Kong EM-P.

The RADAR Horizon EM-P is positioned as a global-, family-oriented super hybrid pickup and comes in two variants, priced between 149,800 yuan and 159,800 yuan. Meanwhile, the RADAR King Kong EM-P, designed for both commercial and personal use, offers a single four-wheel-drive "Qianli King Kong" version. It is available in two configurations: a standard cargo bed priced at 139,800 yuan and a long cargo bed at 141,800 yuan.

As Geely RADAR's debut offering in the PHEV segment, the EM-P models retain the brand's signature design language with subtle tweaks, including a revised upper grille and repositioned RADAR logo integrated into the headlamp cluster for enhanced visual identity. The vehicle profile and rear maintain a clean and stylish look, with straight shoulder lines and a streamlined body conveying a sporty impression.

Inside, the EM-P models take cues from passenger vehicles. The cabin features leather-wrapped surfaces and chrome accents, delivering an upscale feel. A 10.2-inch digital instrument panel pairs with a 14.6-inch floating central touchscreen that supports smartphone connectivity, numerous entertainment apps, and ecosystem expansion, offering a strong blend of technology and infotainment. The vehicles also come equipped with level 2 driver assistance capabilities, including intelligent cruise, emergency braking, and collision warning functions.

Structurally, the EM-P models move away from traditional body-on-frame pickup construction, opting instead for an integrated chassis with a hidden frame design similar to the Tesla Cybertruck. This approach enhances vehicle strength and durability. The suspension features a dual-spring setup that boosts load-bearing capacity and stiffness under heavy loads. The cargo bed is lined with STC wear- and corrosion-resistant material, enabling a payload of over one ton and a maximum endurance load of 1.3 tonnes.

Powering the EM-P models is Geely's NordThor EM-P super hybrid system, which pairs a 1.5T engine with P3 and P4 electric motors. This setup is mated to the 3-speed DHT transmission, delivering a peak output of 260 kW and maximum torque of 914 Nm. The pickup can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds when unloaded and in 8.6 seconds when fully loaded. It also features an intelligent electric AWD system with three driving modes—Eco, Comfort, and Sport—and four terrain modes for snow, mud, off-road, and sand, enabling all-condition, all-scenario adaptability.

In terms of fuel efficiency, thanks to the NordThor hybrid system, the EM-P models achieve a combined fuel consumption of just 1.5L/100km, and 6.4L/100km when running in the charge-sustaining mode—significantly outperforming traditional fuel-powered pickups that average around 10L/100km. The official combined range is 1,068 km.

Additionally, the EM-P-enabled models support 220V onboard discharge, with a maximum power output of 21 kW, enabling use cases such as simultaneous charging and discharging, stationary power output, locked-vehicle discharge, and remote-controlled discharge—making it highly versatile for diverse real-world applications.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
