On May 24, the first key 500 kV power grid project in Jiangsu Province for the summer peak load season this year—the Shuyang 500 kV Substation Expansion Project—was put into operation, marking the sprint phase for the construction of key power grid projects in Jiangsu Province to meet the summer peak load. It is reported that in the first four months of this year, the total electricity consumption across the province reached 264.1 billion kWh, up 2.2% YoY. Meanwhile, it is forecasted that Jiangsu Province will experience more high-temperature days in the summer of 2025 compared to the same period in previous years, which will further drive the growth of cooling loads from air conditioners and other cooling equipment. In response, State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power stated that currently, 13 key projects for the main power grid and 1,415 key projects for the distribution network to meet the summer peak load are underway. From January to April, State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power completed fixed asset investments exceeding 8 billion yuan, a record high for the same period in history, and is expected to drive investments in the upstream and downstream industry chains exceeding 20 billion yuan.
