Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On May 28, Pony.ai signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with Guangzhou Public Transport Group Co., Ltd., marking a significant step in deepening collaboration across autonomous vehicle operations, mobility platforms, after-sales services, and autonomous driving logistics.

Autonomous ride-hailing—Pony.ai's core business—will be the central focus of the partnership. Both parties aim to integrate their mobility platforms to enable seamless interoperability while supporting customized and personalized autonomous vehicle services.

Unlike traditional fleets, autonomous ride-hailing services require specialized operational management due to the absence of in-vehicle drivers. To address this, the partners will leverage Guangzhou Public Transport's infrastructure and industry resources to jointly develop solutions for vehicle parking, charging, maintenance and inspection, parts supply, and technician training. These efforts aim to accelerate the automation of the autonomous vehicle after-service market.

Pony.ai currently operates autonomous ride-hailing services in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen, spanning over 2,000 square kilometers and covering key hubs such as city centers, airports, and high-speed railway stations. In Guangzhou, the service is available throughout Nansha District and between the city center and Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport/Guangzhou South Railway Station. Users can book autonomous car rides via the Pony.ai app or mini-program.

As South China's largest public road transport operator, Guangzhou Public Transport has developed a coordinated "5+1" business structure encompassing urban transit, taxi services, modern logistics, smart transportation, and new energy mobility, alongside transport asset management. It integrates a wide range of services—public buses, taxis, ferryboats, long-distance buses, and official/business travel—offering a multi-layered transport ecosystem designed to meet citizens' growing demand for diversified and personalized travel experiences.
