Cui Dongshu, Secretary General of the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA): China Accounted for 33% of Global Auto Sales from January to April 2025
Cui Dongshu, Secretary General of the CPCA, stated in an article that global auto sales reached 7.56 million units in April 2025, up 5% YoY. Despite the strong performance of the US and Chinese auto markets in April, April 2025 sales were still 1% lower than the peak in April 2018, remaining at a medium-to-high level historically. From January to April 2025, global auto sales totaled 30.26 million units, up 5% YoY. China accounted for 33% of global auto sales from January to April 2025, with the lower performance of Chinese automakers at the beginning of the year being a normal reflection of the Chinese New Year factor. As the effects of policy incentives became apparent, the Chinese auto market began to strengthen from March to April.
