Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On May 23, SAIC-GM-Wuling ("SGMW") celebrated the production of its 3 millionth new energy vehicle (NEV) globally at a ceremony held at its Indonesian plant, which also marked the rollout of its 40,000th NEV by Wuling Indonesia and the local launch of the Shenlian battery.

As Wuling's first overseas base with a full-scale industrial chain, the Indonesian facility serves as a key hub in the company's globalization strategy. With a market share of over 37% in Indonesia's NEV sector, Wuling's latest milestone underscores its deepening commitment to Southeast Asia and highlights the tangible outcomes of China-ASEAN industrial cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.

Since entering the Indonesian market, SGMW has built a comprehensive ecosystem spanning production, R&D, and sales. By continually refining its NEV lineup with models such as the Air ev, BinguoEV, and CloudEV, it has effectively targeted mainstream price segments to meet local demand for affordable and sustainable mobility.

Alongside the introduction of complete vehicles, core components, and technical standards, SGMW has forged deep partnerships with the Indonesian state electricity utility, universities, and major logistics and passenger transport companies. These collaborations focus on building out the NEV ecosystem, talent development, and expanding public mobility options.

SGMW is also advancing industrial synergy by attracting key Chinese supply chain partners—such as Gotion High-tech—to set up operations in Indonesia. This "vehicle + components" model is driving the upgrade of the local automotive supply chain and offering a new blueprint for the global expansion of China's NEV industry through high-quality, innovation-driven exports.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
