From January to April, China's cumulative exports of wire and cable reached 915,700 mt, representing a cumulative YoY growth rate of 12.79%. Among them, copper wire and cable exports stood at 108,200 mt and 135,800 mt in March and April, respectively, up 47.59% MoM and 25.42% MoM, and up 20.57% YoY and 35.03% YoY. As of April, China's cumulative exports of copper wire and cable reached 424,500 mt, with a cumulative YoY growth rate of 15%.
Cumulatively from March to April, copper wire and cable exports covered 207 countries and regions. Among them, Australia, the UK, and the Philippines cumulatively imported 21,300 mt, 17,900 mt, and 12,800 mt of copper wire and cable from China, respectively, ranking in the top three positions. Notably, the volume of exports to the UK saw the most significant increase. According to SMM, the UK's National Grid had previously announced that it would expand its investment in the UK's power grid system from 2025-2026 to address grid congestion caused by the integration of clean energy projects. Furthermore, the UK will further accelerate the development of renewable energy and implement the "2030 Clean Power Action Plan". SMM expects that the UK's demand for copper wire and cable will continue to rise. Additionally, it is worth mentioning that, in terms of the cumulative export volume from March to April, orders for exports to the US decreased significantly YoY, and the US has fallen out of the top three positions in terms of cumulative export volume rankings.
