Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On May 22, 2025, Xiaomi EV officially unveiled its first SUV model, the YU7—Chinese name "御7"—positioned as a luxury high-performance SUV. The new vehicle is set to go on sale in July, with pricing to be announced at launch.

Built on the design language of the SU7, the YU7 has been extensively optimized to suit the SUV form. The model measures 4,999mm long, 1,996mm wide, and 1,600mm high, with a 3,000mm wheelbase. Its proportions—featuring a 3:1 wheel-to-axle ratio, 2.1:1 wheel-to-height ratio, and 1.25:1 width-to-height ratio—create a low-slung, sporty silhouette.

Distinctive design elements include a "hollow droplet" headlight structure integrated with front air channels, offering both sharp aesthetics and a 180° ultra-wide beam.

At the rear, the SUV features premium 632nm ultra-red taillights, enhancing nighttime visibility.

Aerodynamic enhancements include electric inward-folding door handles, contributing to a drag coefficient as low as 0.245 Cd and boosting CLTC-rated range by 59 km. The vehicle also features a 3.11㎡ clamshell aluminum hood—the largest of its kind in production—with a 141L powered front trunk offering eight opening configurations.

The YU7 will be initially available in three exterior colors: Emerald Green, Titanium Grey, and Lava Orange. The Emerald Green hue uses a dual-layer paint process inspired by Colombian emeralds, delivering a luxurious and fluid finish. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun announced that five additional color options will be revealed during the official market launch.

Inside, the YU7 features a "dual-zone immersive luxury cabin" with the debut of the "Xiaomi Horizon Display"—a panoramic interface with three Mini LED screens spanning 1.1 meters. The system supports customizable content widgets, while the rear cabin includes a movable control screen for enhanced interactivity.

Interior space was optimized using a 188 cm test dummy model, resulting in 100mm of front headroom and 73mm of rear legroom. The vehicle offers up to 1,970L of storage, with the trunk accommodating three 24-inch suitcases, catering to family travel needs.

All high-contact surfaces in the cabin are wrapped in soft-touch materials, meeting OEKO-TEX Class 1 standards. Seats are upholstered in fine Nappa leather, with dual zero-gravity seats in the front and 135° electrically adjustable rear seats.

The YU7 lineup runs on an 800V silicon carbide high-voltage platform and includes three trims: Standard, Pro, and Max. The entry-level model delivers a CLTC-rated range of 835 km with a 96.3 kWh battery, while the dual-motor AWD Pro and Max versions offer 760 km and 770 km of range, respectively. Both support fast charging that adds 620 km in just 15 minutes.

In terms of performance, the dual-motor AWD variant produces up to 690 horsepower, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.23 seconds, with a top speed of 253 km/h. Braking from 100 km/h to zero takes just 33.9 meters.

The chassis features a front double wishbone and rear five-link suspension system, paired with closed dual-chamber air springs and continuously variable dampers. Five adjustable height settings balance sportiness and ride comfort.

The YU7 is powered by the NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Thor™ computing platform with 700 TOPS of processing power. It comes standard with LiDAR, 4D millimeter-wave radar, and seven ultra-clear anti-glare cameras, supporting advanced assisted driving capabilities across all trims.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
