According to a report from Mining.com, Anglo Asian Mining announced on Monday that its Gilar underground copper-gold mine at the Gedabek mine in Azerbaijan has reached full production.
The newly constructed Gilar mine produced its first batch of ore in March, and after a steady increase, production is expected to reach 50,000-60,000 mt per month. The company aims to mine 2,000 mt per day.
According to the JORC-compliant mineral resource estimate released in December 2023, the mine has ore resources of 6.1 million mt, with an average copper grade of 0.88% and gold grade of 1.3 g/t, equating to approximately 54,000 mt of copper content and 255,000 ounces of gold.
Anglo Asian is currently aiming to become a mid-sized producer by 2029. In addition to Pilar, the company has three more mines that are expected to commence production: Zafar, Xarxar, and Garadag.
In 2024, Anglo Asian's production was severely impacted by the closure of mines due to environmental protection measures, but production resumed before the end of the year. Its total gold equivalent production was 16,760 ounces.
