[20-Year US Treasury Yield Breaks 5% Threshold] On Wednesday local time, the US Treasury Department auctioned off $16 billion in 20-year Treasury bonds. This latest auction was among the worst-performing since the maturity was introduced five years ago. The final award yield for this auction was 5.047%, marking the second time that the yield for a 20-year US Treasury auction has broken the 5% threshold. This award yield was 24 basis points higher than the 4.810% yield in April. The award yield for this auction was approximately 1.2 basis points higher than the when-issued rate of 5.035%, marking the largest tail spread since December last year. Following the announcement of the auction results, US stocks, US Treasuries, and Bitcoin all fell.
