On May 21 (Wednesday), Jorge Montero, Peru's Minister of Energy and Mines, stated that the Peruvian government would establish a "mining fund" to provide financial incentives for small-scale and artisanal miners.

"We will announce the launch of a mining fund for small-scale and artisanal miners within a few weeks," Montero said, adding that these miners would be able to enjoy preferential interest rates and convenient access to sales channels.
