[South Korea's Steel Exports to US Drop 10% YoY in First Four Months, Tariff Impact Yet to Be Felt] A report released by the Korea Institute for Industrial Economics & Trade on the 21st showed that South Korea's export value of steel to the US fell by more than 10% YoY in the first four months of this year. This was due to the high base effect from the strong export performance in the same period last year, while the impact of the US's move to impose a 25% tariff on imported steel from March had yet to be felt. According to the report, South Korea's steel export value to the US from January to April this year was $1.384 billion, a 10.2% YoY decrease, which was significantly larger than the decline in steel export value to markets other than the US during the same period (2.6%).
