Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On May 20, BYD and CAR Inc. held a strategic cooperation signing ceremony at BYD's global headquarters in Shenzhen, according to a post on BYD's WeChat account.

The two parties reached a deeper strategic understanding around vehicle procurement plans for the summer of 2025, signing a partnership agreement aimed at promoting sustainable development in green mobility and the car rental sector.

According to official sources, this move marks a deepening of the collaboration that began in April 2025. During the May Day holiday, CAR Inc.'s initial fleet of BYD vehicles—comprising the Qin PLUS DM-i and the Fangchengbao BAO 8—received strong market feedback following deployment. Building on this positive response, CAR Inc. now plans to expand its procurement scale for the 2025 summer season, further diversifying its rental offerings to meet the varied travel demands of customers during the peak tourism period.

The cooperation will span vehicle procurement and operations, joint marketing and brand synergy, vehicle connectivity technology, used car business models, and service innovation. Key initiatives include continued expansion of the new energy vehicle fleet, deep test drive programs and co-branded campaigns, data integration to optimize operations, exploration of new residual value management models, aftersales support, and exclusive benefits for employees.

This strategic alliance also signals a new phase in the scaled and standardized adoption of new energy vehicles in the car rental market, offering an innovative "vehicle-operation-service" solution model for the industry.

Looking ahead, BYD and CAR Inc. will continue to leverage their respective strengths in technology, operations, and market reach to jointly explore new development models for NEVs in car rental. By offering a wider range of vehicle options, smarter mobility experiences, and improved supporting services, the partnership seeks to accelerate the adoption of green travel in China and contribute to the country's dual carbon goals, forging a more sustainable future together.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
