China's April Spodumene Imports Surge 16.5% MoM, Led by Zimbabwe and Nigeria

[China's spodumene imports reached 633,000 mt in April, up 16.5% MoM] According to customs data, China's total spodumene imports in April 2025 were approximately 633,000 mt, with spodumene ore from Australia, Zimbabwe, and Nigeria accounting for 79% of the total. Among them, lithium ore imports from Australia were 298,000 mt, down 3% MoM; lithium ore imports from Zimbabwe were 106,000 mt, up 82% MoM; and lithium ore imports from Nigeria were 89,000 mt, up 4% MoM. Additionally, lithium ore imports from South Africa decreased by 22% MoM, a relatively significant decline.
