Aluminum Prices Decline Slightly While Billet Inventories Drop and Processing Fees Rise

On May 19, SMM A00 aluminum was reported at 20,230 yuan/mt, down 40 yuan/mt from the previous trading day, with a premium of +70 over the June contract, unchanged from the previous trading day. On May 19, SMM A00 aluminum (Foshan) was reported at 20,110 yuan/mt, down 30 yuan/mt, with a discount of 50 yuan/mt against the current month, narrowing by 5 yuan/mt (unit: yuan/mt). According to SMM statistics, on May 19, the inventory of aluminum billets in major domestic consumption areas was 131,600 mt, down 6,600 mt from the previous Thursday. With a slight decline in aluminum prices today and fewer arrivals over the weekend, domestic aluminum billet inventories continued to fall. On Monday, the aluminum billet market maintained a stable trend, with suppliers mainly refusing to budge on prices and releasing goods slowly. The supply of low-priced goods was relatively limited, and downstream enterprises moderately restocked based on quality, with overall transactions being moderate. Today, the aluminum billet market in Foshan was reported at 320/370 yuan/mt, up 20 yuan/mt; the processing fees in the Wuxi market were reported at 330/380 yuan/mt, up 30 yuan/mt; and the processing fees in the Nanchang area were reported at 300/350 yuan/mt, unchanged (unit: yuan/mt).
