[Boliden Electrifies Kristineberg Lead-Zinc Mine to Advance Green Transition]
This week, Boliden announced the electrified expansion of its Kristineberg mine, part of the Boliden Area in Sweden, as part of its push toward low-carbon mining. Sweden’s Minister for Climate and the Environment, Romina Pourmokhtari, attended the inauguration and remarked, “This is where words are turned into action—Boliden is truly demonstrating its commitment to the green transition.”
As the global mining sector undergoes a transformation to reduce emissions, the Kristineberg project stands out for its efforts to electrify operations at the new Rävliden deposit. The initiative is expected to significantly lower the mine’s climate impact and set a new benchmark for how future mines are developed.
