







CATL (SHE: 300750) saw its share of China's electric vehicle (EV) battery market slip last month from March, while BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) saw growth.
In April, China's power battery installations stood at 54.1 GWh, up 52.8 percent year-on-year but down 4.3 percent from March, according to data released today by the China Automotive Battery Innovation Alliance (CABIA).
CATL installed 21.20 GWh of power batteries in April, continuing to rank first with a share of 39.44 percent, although down 2.94 percentage points from March's 42.38 percent share.
BYD's power battery installations in April were 14.17 GWh, ranking second with a 26.35 percent share, up 1.83 percentage points from March's 24.52 percent.
CALB ranked third in April with a 7.02 percent share of 3.78 GWh of installed power batteries, up 1.87 percentage points from 5.16 percent in March.
Gotion High-tech ranked fourth in April with an installed base of 3.14 GWh and a 5.85 percent share.
Eve Energy ranked fifth in April with an installed base of 1.99 GWh and a share of 3.70 percent.
China's lithium ternary battery installed capacity in April was 9.3 GWh, accounting for 17.2 percent of the total, down 6.3 percent year-on-year and down 7.0 percent from March.
Lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries accounted for 44.8 GWh or 82.8 percent of the total in April, up 75.9 percent year-on-year but down 3.8 percent from March.
CATL, CALB, and LG Energy Solution were the top three in terms of installed capacity of ternary batteries in April, with shares of 72.06 percent, 11.90 percent, and 6.64 percent, respectively.
In the LFP battery market, CATL, BYD, and Gotion had the highest installed base in April, with shares of 32.94 percent, 31.62 percent, and 6.91 percent, respectively.
China produced 118.2 GWh of power and other batteries in April, up 49.0 percent year-on-year but down 0.03 percent from March.
Production of ternary batteries in April was 23.5 GWh, up 1.7 percent year-on-year but down 1.4 percent from March.
LFP battery production in April was 94.6 GWh, up 68.6 percent year-on-year and up 0.3 percent from March.
China exported 14.5 GWh of power batteries in April, including 8.7 GWh of ternary batteries and 5.6 GWh of LFP batteries.
